Blind Preparation

Well…we spent hours yesterday trying to plot out our eating plan for the first week of the 21 day fix. Let’s just say it was so much harder than I ever thought. Of course…I’m sure we made it away too complicated. At first we tried to attack it with the number of containers we could eat each day. We tried to spread them out throughout the day so that we could come up with a menu for that day. That worked but not really. It’s a little challenging to do this with more than one person in the same household when the body types are completely different. We got so caught up in the measurements and who eats what that we just kept confusing ourselves. Then we decided to make a list of what we each like. That really make sense either. Eventually we decided to log on Pinterest thanks to an amazing friend and find some recipes. After we mapped that part out and knew what we were eating together and then on our own it worked a lot better. The new gameplay was to shop first thing in the morning and then prep for the week. That seemed like a great plan until I talked myself out of it this morning. Let me explain. I’m a freak of nature. I read labels and side affects on everything. Food..it freaks me out if it is in the fridge for days. I convince myself that it can only be good for a few days. After that it’s gross. I would love to avoid leftovers but that doesn’t always happen. Day 1 is okay but day 2 I want to toss. Anyway…I woke up early this morning and decided that perhaps crockpot meals were the way to go for me. That way I feel like they are fresh and I’m not hovering over the stove for hours pretending I can cook when really the house is probably about to catch fire. So…she will cook on the days she had planned and I will cook on my days. Boom…its a win win. The first shopping trip was a little expensive because well we have no clue what we are doing and we want to make sure we have enough food for everyone. Hopefully it will be a little cheaper going forward. Either way I come out on top based on what I will save by avoiding Starbucks every day. Just with Starbucks I was averaging $200 a month! Yes that is completely insane. You will see every inch of that $200 when I post my before pics. 🙈 Aside from the cart full of groceries I also purchased the Fitbit Aria scale. With the scale, Fitbit Surge, 21 Day Fix and Shakeology I’m definitely ready to make and track my changes. Tomorrow is go time!
